Glory to Jesus Christ!
Слава Ісусу Христу!
“Welcome one another just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God” (Romans 15:7)
Whether you are just browsing or are searching out a new faith community, we are delighted to extend to you a very warm welcome! To give you some idea of what we’re about, the following is a sketch of our foundational beliefs.
We are committed to the embodiment of God’s love and justice found in Jesus’ response to the question “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” – we are to “love God with all our heart, soul (being) and mind” and to “love neighbor as self” (Matthew 22:36-40).
We advocate for faithful, systemic, and intersectional solutions to our human struggles, so that we might fully welcome all persons and thereby love God, others, and self, according to the good news of Jesus Christ.
“A New Commandment I Give to You”
… is the fundamental purpose for which we exist. Our Mission is to ensure the Orthodox Catholic Monastery of Our Lady Joy of All Who Sorrow embodies the presence, healing, comfort, wholeness, and grace of God offered to all persons through the love of Jesus Christ.
… is the expression of our critically and systematically developed religious beliefs, faith, theory, practice, and sacred experience. Our theology is traditional but not conservative, credally orthodox but not rigid or legalistic. We are traditional, progressive, contemplative and mystical. We are a unique community, professing the truths of the ancient Christian Creeds and observing a traditional liturgical praxis (ordo) with a progressive theology and contemplative spirituality.
OUR CORE VALUES
… are beliefs shared among the members in an organization. They drive an organization’s culture and priorities and provide a framework to help make decisions. God presented us critical core values in the original Ten Commandments and our Lord Jesus Christ augmented them with the two Great Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount (known as the Beatitudes). These are the core values that guide everything we do.
We pray that the fully realized expression of our mission, vision, theology, and core values will manifest peace, love, grace, and joy in our world.
